16 July 2015 Over 50 Chapter members and guests gathered for the summer luncheon and meeting at the Army Navy Country Club (ANCC) in Arlington, VA on Thursday, 16 July 2015. They were treated to a presentation from Bryan Clark, Senior Fellow at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments. Bryan is a former submariner and his last active duty tour was as the Special Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations for the development of Navy strategy and implementation of new initiatives in electromagnetic spectrum operations, undersea warfare, expeditionary operations and personnel and readiness management. Bryan provided insights and perspectives on OSD’s 3rd offset strategy and its implications for offensive concepts and capabilities in the campaign for undersea dominance. A 30-minute Q&A period followed the presentation enabling a great exchange of ideas and viewpoints.
Also at the meeting, the Chapter elected Shawn Huey for a two-year term as Chapter Vice President and re-elected Mark Henry as Chapter Treasurer. Shawn is an active duty submarine officer serving on the Navy staff in the Pentagon. He recently completed a tour as Commanding Officer of USS CALIFORNIA in Groton, CT. Mark Henry is retired following a 36-year career with the Naval Sea Systems Command and its predecessor organizations. He was involved in the design and acquisition of submarines and submersibles and managed submarine-related research and development programs. Mark has been Treasures since the Chapter’s inception in 1991.
